SUMMARY:OmpSs-2 and OpenACC Interoperation
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nOmpSs-2 and OpenACC Interoperation\n\nKorakitis, G
arcia de Gonzalo, Guidott, Barreto, Monteiro...\n\nWe propose an interoper
ation mechanism to enable novel composability across pragma-based programm
ing models. We study and propose a clear separation of duties and implemen
t our approach by augmenting the OmpSs-2 programming model, compiler and r
untime system to support OmpSs-2 + OpenACC programming. To validate our pr
oposal we port ZPIC, a kinetic plasma simulator, to leverage our hybrid Om
pSs-2 + OpenACC implementation. We compare our approach against OpenACC ve
rsions of ZPIC in terms of on a multi-GPU HPC system. We show that our app
roach manages to provide automatic asynchronous and multi-GPU execution, r
emoving significant burden from the application’s developer, while also be
ing able to outperform manually programmed versions, thanks to a better ut
ilization of the hardware.\n\nSession Format: Recorded\n\nTag: Accelerator
-based Architectures, Compilers, Dataflow and Tasking, Directive Based Pro
gramming, Heterogeneous Systems, Parallel Programming Languages and Models
, Runtime Systems\n\nRegistration Category: Workshop Reg Pass
