SUMMARY:Postdoc - Quantum Sensing
DESCRIPTION:Job Posting\n\nPostdoc - Quantum Sensing\n\n\n\nThe Multiscale
Fabrication Science & Technology Development Department, 5229, is seeking
a Postdoctoral Appointee to perform experimental investigations of quantu
m and semiclassical devices supporting fundamental science projects in are
as ranging from quantum information and sensing to radiation detection, ch
aracterization of novel superconducting materials, and neuromorphic comput
ing.\n\nOn any given day, you may be called upon to:\n\nDrive research in
a defined area of interest as part of established, diverse teams of physic
ists, engineers, and material scientists.\n\nContribute significantly at t
he forefront of one of the following areas:\n\nApplications in radiation d
etection. Microfabricated devices of interest include superconducting quan
tum bits (qubits), transition-edge-sensors, and single electron transistor
 s. Cryogenic measurements will span a range of temperatures.\n\nApplicatio
ns in neuromorphic computing, particularly stochastic devices. Microfabric
ated devices of interest include tunnel diodes and single electron transis
tors. Room-temperature measurements will require high-speed data acquisiti
on and statistical analysis.\n\nApplications in novel materials, including
superconductivity. Microfabricated devices of interest range from Hall ba
rs to Josephson junctions.\n\nWe seek a self-motivated experimentalist to
advance existing projects while advancing their career through peer-review
ed publications and presentations as well as internal and external interac
tions. While the primary technical responsibility will be device measureme
nt, we encourage hands-on involvement with device modeling or device fabri
cation. A significant amount of coordination with other staff and technolo
gists to meet the needs of the teams is required. In this highly collabora
tive environment excellent teaming and communications skills are a require
ment for success.\n\nDue to the nature of the work, the selected applicant
must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.
