 n\n\nThe Organization:\n\n\n\nThe National Center for Computational Scienc
 es (NCCS) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is responsible for p
 roviding computational resources at extreme scales for science.  NCCS is h
 ome to some of the fastest supercomputers and storage systems in the world
 , e.g., the 27 petaflops Titan system, the 200 petaflops Summit system, th
 e 250 petabytes GPFS-based Alpine parallel file system, and the disk/tape 
 HPSS archival storage system.  NCCS serves multiple agencies including DOE
 , NOAA, and the Air Force.  The NCCS also supports the center’s Quantum Co
 mputing User Program (QCUP) which provides access to state-of-the-art quan
 tum computing resources.\n\n\n\nThe Team:\n\n\n\nThe NCCS User Assistance 
 (UA) Group provides technical support to the center’s advanced computing r
 esources including high-performance computing (HPC) and Quantum, generates
  documentation about NCCS systems, and develops and delivers training to u
 sers of the center’s resources. NCCS staff members are also responsible fo
 r developing tools and technical solutions for users of these resources.  
 NCCS User Assistant specialists also serve as ambassadors for users of the
 se resources and the rest of the organization.   \n\n\n\nMajor Duties and 
 Responsibilities:\n\n\n\nThe role comprises the following primary function
 s:\n\nTake technical ownership of user reported problems and provide hands
 -on support for scientific applications and libraries and users of high-pe
 rformance computing, clusters, quantum, and other advanced computing resou
 rces.\nCompile and debug large science and engineering applications.\nIden
 tify and resolve system-level bugs in conjunction with other technical sta
 ff.\nWork with vendors to resolve issues and implement changes as necessar
 y.\nInstall third-party software applications and tools and provide docume
 ntation for usage.\nDevelop and execute system tests to ensure newly deplo
 yed systems can support user workloads. \nProactively ensure that users ha
 ve up-to-date information about the system, including any changes and thei
 r impact on the users. User Support staff are very involved in researching
  and developing documentation and reference material during system early-u
 se and upgrade phases, as well as maintaining them throughout system opera
 tion.\nParticipate in the development, maintenance, and delivery of traini
 ng and outreach materials to users.\nRespond to general administrative que
 stions (e.g., system status, requests for accessor special accommodation, 
 etc)\nImplement special projects as requested (e.g., metrics, cyber securi
 ty, policy discussions). \nActively participate and advocate for users dur
 ing planning of system configuration, policy creation, outages, and other
