Alessio Sclocco obtained his PhD on ‘Accelerating Radio Astronomy with Auto-tuning’ at the VU University Amsterdam in 2017; during his PhD he has also worked as a scientific programmer at ASTRON, the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy. Alessio is the main author of a highly optimized and auto-tuned GPU pipeline for detecting fast radio bursts and other radio astronomical transients. After his PhD, Alessio joined the Netherlands eScience Center where he works as a Research Software Engineer. In 2019, he was a visiting scholar at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Alessio is very passionate about helping others to achieve high performance with their GPU codes and has been teaching GPU programming courses since 2012.
