Zaid Tahir
Biography
PhD-ing in FPGA/CPU systems for CLOUD servers/ IOT devices etc, at Boston University USA 🇺🇸
I am the product of excellence of previous and current innovators, and the mastery and knowledge of my teachers/mentors/supervisors.
Current Work:
PhD Project Link: https://research.redhat.com/blog/research_project/disl-a-dynamic-infrastructure-services-layer-for-reconfigurable-hardware/
Currently I am working at one of the lowest abstraction levels while doing my PhD in Computer Engineering from BU (Boston University) in which I am using Verilog language to code the gates that make up our computer’s processors. Here at BU, I am working with RedHat to develope a hardwareOS for efficient use of FPGAs in clouds and edge devices, in which I have to use both OOP C++/Python for soft processors in FPGAs and Verilog for hardware development.
I am also working on developing a (eBPF) processor in Verilog for Network packet filtering.
Previous Experience:
I have done research in Autonomous Vehicles (AV) SafetyAssurance (made SitutationCoverage based V&V framework in Carla software with Deep Learning object detection implemented in the simulation using Python for AVs) at University of York UK 🇬🇧 (2019 - 2021)
Masters in Robotics 🤖 with a high impact factor and cited paper on RRT* PathPlanning for autonomous vehicles from NUST University Pakistan🇵🇰 (2015 - 2018)
Worked on FPGAs and Embedded systems at Advance Engineering Research Org 🇵🇰 (2016 - 2019)
I have worked on Audio signal processing as well such as noise cancellation algorithms, beamforming algorithms for recording sounds and noise cancellation and deepLearning based Trigger word detection 🔊🔊🔊🎵🎧👂
Developed autonomous UGVs and UAVs and various robotic projects.
Tech/Sports geek!

Fields of Engineering experience:
I have had experience in a few different fields of engineering/computers science.
Currently I am working on both the hardware and software side using FPGAs and coding in Verilog and C++ and Python.
I have previously worked on safety assurance of autonomous vehicles i.e self-driving cars (CARLA AV simulator, Python, Tensorflow, Pytorch Deeplearning), robotics including Path-Planning (RRT* etc), Machine Learning, Controls and Automation, Hardware Designing and Embedded Systems (GPUs, DSPs, Micro-controller, SOC, FPGA), and Safety Assurance of Critical Systems.
Aspiring to make a difference, so that humanity has a better tomorrow.
